That Greg Testa was elected to the Millersville University Athletic Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility says everything about his stellar career as a three-time All-PSAC East First Team selection on the hardwood. The 2007 graduate etched his name in the record books while delivering two PSAC Championship game appearances and a PSAC Championship for the Marauders.
Â
Testa holds the distinction of being one of only four players in the illustrious history of Millersville men’s basketball to earn All-PSAC East First Team honors three times. His career numbers include 1,702 points, which ranks seventh in school history and an impressive four-year scoring average of 14.7 points per game. Testa was among the best shooters in the PSAC, shooting 37.1 percent from 3-point range in his career, which is the ninth-best mark in school history. He also sank 76.6 percent of his free throws, and as a senior in a historic 2006-07 season, Testa drilled 47.3 percent of his shots from the field while averaging 17.5 points per game.
Â
Testa did much more than just score points, though. His 185 steals ranks third in school history, and he ranks eighth in career assists with 354—an average of 3.0 per game. He concluded his career with an impressive 153 more assists than turnovers.
Â
His outstanding play led directly to team success. As a sophomore averaging 13.9 points per game, Testa and the 2004-05 Marauders rolled to a 22-8 record and into the PSAC Championship game where it narrowly lost at Edinboro. Millersville earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament and Testa led the team with 20 points against Mount Olive.
Â
Testa’s most impressive statistical season came the following year when he averaged 19.7 points per game. But his most valuable season was his senior campaign of 2006-07. Testa poured in 576 points (17.6 per game) and helped guide the Marauders to a school-record 28 victories. Testa capped his career in memorable fashion, winning the PSAC Championship by averaging 18.7 points per game and earning PSAC Tournament MVP honors.
Â
Millersville pushed deeper into the postseason with a run to the NCAA East Regional title game. Testa totaled 23 points and nine rebounds in an opening round win over Mount Olive, added 18 points and six assists against California (Pa.) in the second round, and 16 more against Barton in the Sweet 16.
Â
Testa earned All-America Honorable Mention status in both his junior and season seasons. After his playing career, he returned to the Marauder bench as a graduate assistant coach under Fred Thompson. He completed a master’s degree in business administration in 2009. He married his wife, Jamie, in December of 2012 and currently works as national sales manager for Direct Wire & Cable Inc., in Denver, Pa.Â
