Named as one of the top 30 players in Millersville men's basketball history during the program's centennial celebration in 2000, Glenn Stitzel played on three NAIA District 19 championship squads (1965-66, 1966-67, 1967-68).

In 1967-68, Stitzel enjoyed one of the most outstanding seasons in Marauder cage history. He established school and PSAC records for points (778) and scoring average (31.1 ppg) and also tallied 58 points versus Southeastern--still a Marauder single game scoring mark.

Stitzel set three other season standards that remain in the 'Ville record book to this day: free throws made (240), free throw attempts (314), and field goal attempts (611). He was cited as an NAIA All-America honorable mention in '68 and was an all-district and All-PSAC First Team selection.

In his three-year basketball career, Stitzel scored 1,171 points and helped pace Coach Richard DeHart's squad to a 57-21 record.

In baseball, Stitzel batted over .400 in his career and competed for the 1968 PSAC and NAIA District 19 champion Marauders. He was the first Millersville player drafted to play professional baseball when the New York Mets selected him following his senior season by the New York Mets.

Stitzel played eight years in the minor leagues (.299 career hitter) with three organizations--the Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants, and reached the Triple-A level three years playing for the Tidewater Tides (Mets) and Toledo Mud Hens (Phillies). He retired from organized baseball in 1975.

A 1968 MU graduate (bachelor's degree in elementary education), has served in the Palisades School District (Kintnersville, Pa.) as a fifth grade teacher since 1975. For 15 years (1976-91), he was head boys' basketball coach at Palisades High Schol and was the first mentor to reach the 100-victory milestone. He has also served as an AAU coach and as a camp counselor and instructor for youth basketball programs throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.

In February 2000, the Palisades School District presented Stitzel with its "Gift of Time Tribute" honor for making a difference in the lives of students.
