A standout performer in field hockey and tennis in the late ‘50s and early '60s, Fay Kramer was a leader both on and off the field and court.

In field hockey, she was a center forward who led the 1959 and 1960 Marauder squads in scoring. She twice scored four goals in varsity competition (vs. Dickinson in '59 and vs. Shippensburg in '60), noteworthy in she competed in only 19 contests in her three-season intercollegiate career. Her dedication and leadership qualities resulted in co-captainships in her junior and senior years (1960 and 1961, respectively).

As an undergraduate, Kramer led the movement of tennis from club to intercollegiate varsity status. After she played two seasons in the club program, Millersville began intercollegiate play in 1961. Kramer posted a 5-0 singles record that first year and helped establish a foundation for tennis excellence that has blossomed over the past four decades. She was also a member of the Varsity Club and earned dean's list recognition.

After she joined the Millersville faculty in the education department in the late ‘60s, Kramer remained an active booster and advocate for women's athletics and gender equity before and after Title IX was implemented in 1972. She was a long-time member of the Faculty-Student Athletic Committee. She also earned a master's degree in history from Temple in 1966.

As an educator, Kramer served as director of the Urban Education program for 16 years and coordinated the University's secondary education student teaching program for 15 years.

When she retired from Millersville in 2000, Kramer held the title of assistant professor in the Department of Educational Foundations. Active in community endeavors, she was the founder of the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, served on the board of directors of the Lancaster County Multiple Sclerosis Society for two terms, and was a board director with Welcome Wagon's Lancaster County branch.

In 1988, Kramer was selected by the Pennsylvania Academy for the Profession of Teaching as an Urban Education Fellow. She also served as an advisor to the Penn Manor High School Junior Historians from 1970 to 1980.
