Why did you choose Millersville?
I chose Millersville for its prestigious education program, the beautiful campus, general location, the softball program, and the overall atmosphere. When I visited this university, I had a very positive gut feeling that this was going to be the place for me.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose to be an early childhood education major because I am passionate about making a difference in the world. Educators have the unique responsibility of providing positive, rich experiences for young children and the idea of helping those kids learn and grow is very exciting to me. Ultimately, I want to be able to make a lasting impact and serve as a role model to my future students.
What is your favorite memory as a Millersville student-athlete?
Although I have many cherished memories from being a student-athlete at Millersville, many of my favorite moments have come from the long bus rides and inside the dugout. It was through these 20 hour bus rides and the loud cheering and dancing we did in the dugout that I laughed and smiled the most. This was where I formed such close bonds with my teammates and coaches and created memories that I will never forget.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring athletes?
Aspiring athletes should keep in mind that playing a collegiate sport is about so much more than just the game. I have learned a lot about myself and life through the sport I play and it’s important to appreciate those experiences that help you grow. The relationships I have formed and the opportunities I have received through college sports have changed my life. It’s all about what you’ll have left once your playing career ends.
What is one of your pregame rituals?
One of my pregame rituals is definitely to get my hair french-braided either on the bus or in the locker room. Have to look your best to play your best!
What is one word you would use to describe being part of your team?
Gratitude. I have found that over my years on this team, win or lose, each player and coach is grateful to have the opportunity to represent Millersville. Although the journey isn’t always easy, our team has such a deep sense of appreciation for the game and for each other. That’s one of the many things that makes our team culture special.
What do you normally do on your off days?
My off days are typically spent in the library. I am always doing homework, studying, or fulfilling my responsibilities for SAAC. If I’m not in the library then I like to spend time with my friends or Facetime my family.
How has participating in athletics at Millersville impacted you?
My athletics experience at Millersville has made such a positive impact on my life. Particularly through my SAAC presidency, I have made so many discoveries about myself as a developing leader. Millersville Athletics has given me the opportunity to make an influence in my community and to grow as a person. I am so thankful for the people I’ve met and the experience I’ve gained through our athletic community.
What is a typical day for you when you are in-season?
My typical day goes a bit like this: Wake up, class, library, softball, library, club meeting of some sort, library, sleep. I try to make room for eating and breathing somewhere in there too.
What is the best thing about being a student-athlete at Millersville?
I love the culture of this athletic department. Everyone demonstrates such pride and emphasizes the fact that all of the teams make up a community. Being a part of something much bigger than any individual athlete or team is so incredible.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
I’d have dinner with Freddy Mercury. He’s a legend and was such an interesting person.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
"Girl on Fire" by Alicia Keys.
