After serving as the interim coach for the men and women's golf teams during the fall of 2012, Ron Weaver has continued to mentor the golfers as an assistant coach. Weaver and Marauder head coach Scott Vandegrift have a relationship that was established nearly 40 years ago.
As the interim coach, Weaver guided the men's team to a first-place finish at the Mercyhurst Invitational, and Robert Coyne posted the best PSAC Championships finish by a Marauder in 10 years by tying for third. As an assistant, Weaver has helped the men's program to a PSAC Championship in 2013 and a NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional appearance in May of 2014. The women's program also won its first-ever tournament titles with Weaver on staff.
Weaver graduated from West Chester in 1982 with degree in marketing and management. A lifelong Lancaster County resident, Weaver is the business owner of Weaver Associates, Inc., which is a computer supplies and printing company.
He started playing golf in high school at Lancaster Catholic and after meeting Vandegrift as a junior golfer, went on to play for Ed Cottrell--Vandegrift's former coach--at West Chester.
As a member of Bent Creek Country Club, Weaver has been one of the top players in the Lancaster County Golf Association for more than 20 years, winning numerous tournaments at both the county and regional levels.
In addition to serving as an assistant golf coach at Lancaster Catholic, Weaver mentored Dan Walters, who is now the assistant golf coach at Wake Forest, and Chase Duncan, who is the lead instructor at N.C. State.
Weaver is married to Kathe Weaver and has four children. His oldest daughter, Samantha, graduated from Millersville in 2013. His step-son, Robby Rowe, is a member of the Millersville golf team.
