Matt Shur was named the head coach of the Millersville men's and women's golf programs prior to the 2026-27 season.
Shur broke into collegiate coaching in 2022 at Goucher College. In his time at Goucher, he led the men's team to top-four finishes in the conference championship three times and won four tournaments. The women's program also achieved top-four conference finishes in two of the last three years.
In 2025-26, Shur's men's team finished runner-up at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview and then placed third at the Landmark Championship in the spring. Since 2022, he helped nine men's golfers earn All-Landmark Conference honors, and his golfers are responsible for four of the top six season scoring averages in program history. On the women's side, Shur coached Iseline Schenk to the program's best three scoring averages and the lowest single round score in team history. Shur also made a significant impact on the program's facilities as he led fundraising efforts to build an on-campus indoor practice facility.
Before joining Goucher, Shur served as assistant golf professional at Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale, Pa., and also spent two years as assistant pro shop manager at Talamore Country Club in Amber, Pa. At both stops he provided individual lessons for golfers of all ages and skill levels. As a golfer at Stevenson, Shur was an GCAA Academic All-America honoree, posting a scoring average of 75.6 and a 3.94 GPA in 2019-20. Shur ranks seventh in program history in scoring average, earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors twice, was a two-time team MVP, and was in the lineup for three MAC Commonwealth championships.
Shur graduated from Stevenson in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in athletic leadership from Goucher.
