Swimming drops to undefeated Cougars

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team took on undefeated Kean University on Alumni Day, falling to the Cougars by a final score of 148–114.

The Marauders opened the meet in familiar fashion, earning a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay behind Abigail Lowman, Leah Eckert, Violet Pizzillo, and Anna Sassaman. Hannah Baumgardner followed with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 10:13.66, while Izabella Wreski and Madison Taylor placed third and fifth, respectively. Baumgardner added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, and Lowman finished second in the 100-yard backstroke. Eckert secured another victory for the Marauders with a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Sassaman continued the momentum with a win in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 25.55. Lowman and Eckert added second-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke, while Baumgardner earned her second individual win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle. Pizzillo and Lowman followed with second place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and the 400-yard individual medley. The meet concluded with the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Baumgardner, Taylor, Jane McClelland, and Wreski finishing second to close out the day for the Marauders.

The Marauders are back in the water Friday, Jan 23 when they face Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster.
