Box Score SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. --- Millersville women's basketball (7-7, 3-5 PSAC) extended its win streak to three as it traveled to Shippensburg (1-13, 0-8 PSAC) Tuesday evening. The Marauders remained perfect in PSAC East play courtesy of double-digit points from
Bryn Zentner (16),
Daniella Ranieli (16), and
Carley Berk (14).
Despite a solid start from the Marauders, the Red Raiders got out to one of their strongest first-quarter performances all year to have a 24-17 lead at the conclusion of the quarter.
Carley Berk helped the Marauders stay close with five points, one of those made field goals being a three-pointer, along with
Daniella Ranieli, who hit a three in the opening stanza. The Marauders battled back, though, in the second, holding the Red Raiders to just 10 second-quarter points and cutting their seven-point lead to just one going into the halftime break.
The third quarter, over the last two games for the Marauders, has been their strongest, and that was no different in this one tonight. The Marauders held Shippensburg to just 10 quarter points while posting a massive 27-point quarter of their own. Daniella Ranilei's 11 third-quarter points led the way, where she hit both three-pointers that she took and went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Morgan Mahoney and
Carley Berk also added three pointers of their own in the quarter. A huge factor in the Marauders' success in the third was due to their seven forced turnovers and their ability to capitalize on the turnovers, scoring 13 points as a result.
In the fourth quarter, the Red Raiders kept it close, but the blazing hot start to the second half for the Marauders kept them within reach of a comeback. With an almost 20-point lead leaking late into the fourth quarter, the Marauders saw two freshmen get the first minutes of their young careers for the black and gold.
Cass Moore, who made her first career bucket for the Marauders, and
Kacie Boyer, who recorded her first collegiate stat with a rebound.
