POST GAME INTERVIEW WITH KIRA MOWEN
- The youth of this team was something we discussed at the beginning of the season, but there have been many impactful minutes from the young players on your squad. What does that mean for your team, and how does this impact the team's game plan moving forward?
- "We have a lot of depth this year, and yes, they are mostly young or new to our program. I am encouraging them to build upon the success they have had in each game. Every newcomer has had some very impressive moments, and when you only return 3 upperclassmen, the faster my newcomers can learn and grow from mistakes, the faster we can be that well-oiled machine I referred to. I'm happy with their production yesterday and today, but it's not good enough, and we need to continue to keep putting them in challenging positions."
- You were able to hold off the comeback yesterday, but were not as successful tonight. What are going to be the keys to cleaning that up and staying on top of opponents when you have the lead?Â
- "Down the stretch, the two things I want to clean up are offensive rebounding and our zone execution. We didn't just lose the game in the last two minutes, but over the course of the last twenty. A couple of possessions ended in 4 boards to a dagger three for our opponents, and that needs to be fixed. Secondly, with so many scoring options on the floor, we need to move the ball in the zone to make the defense shift and work harder. Amazing team effort this weekend, and I am excited to watch what happens this next month towards our growth as we head into conference play!"
