Marauders place third in Alvernia Invitational

MOHNTON, Pa. --- The Millersville men's golf team placed third out of 12 teams in the Alvernia Invitational this past Tuesday at LedgeRock Golf Club.
LedgeRock Golf Club features a very long course with hilly terrain, beautiful scenery, and a lot of walking for the athletes. To the extent that Alvernia was offering shuttles to certain holes for golfers participating in the event.
Millersville took on the challenge of the course and finished towards the top of the leaderboard due to strong performances all around from the team.
The team leader was freshman Cole Duffy, who shot four over par at the tournament with a 76. Duffy's impressive performance featured four birdies on holes one, three, eight, and 12. The hard course proved its challenge as Duffy sat at one under par through 13 holes, but the stretch of holes 14-17 included a double bogey and three bogeys.
Following just behind Duffy was Sophomore Logan Wagner, who shot five over par on the day. Wagner started his round in a rough spot, being six over through seven holes, but capped off the front nine strong with an eagle on hole eight and a birdie on nine heading into the turn. Wagner would bogey hole 10 and then par every hole until he dropped another stroke with a birdie on hole 16. Wagner ended holes 17 and 18 with two bogeys to push his score back up to five over.
Behind the leaders were Max Pflieger, who shot six over with two birdies and nine pars, and Bo Meakim, who shot 11 over with one birdie and seven pars.
Men's Golf is back in action this Thursday at the Bloomsburg Invitational.
