MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Six pool records fell and Millersville won all 14 events in a 186-70 Senior Day rout of Cal U Saturday.
It was an extra-special day for seniors
Jordan Plempel,
Mackenzie Yosko, and
Jewels Hepner, who were not only honored in their final home meet, they, along with juniors
Jane McClelland and
Claire Weaver all won two races. Plempel and Hepner helped set four Anttonen Natatorium records.
"The team did a really awesome job of racing fast today," said Millersville head coach
Evan Anthony. "There was a lot of excitement and energy with it being Senior Day that gave us an extra boost. There were a number of season-best times which was exciting to see in addition to six new pool records. We will use today leading into our final weeks of preparation for PSAC's. There is still work to put in, but I'm excited with how we are looking heading down the stretch."
Plempel's 4:34.54 broke the previous 400-yard individual medley record by more than 12 seconds, and she set a pool record in the 200 IM at 2:09.69. Hepner's 24.17 in the 50-yard freestyle and 2:26.97 in the 200 breaststroke established new marks. Plempel, Yosko, Hepner and
Leah Eckert posted a 1:48.76 in the 200-yard medley time trial for a pool record. The same quartet smashed the 2023 400-yard individual medley relay record by nearly seven seconds with a time of 4:00.69.
