Evan Anthony was named the Millersville women's swimming team's head coach on June 16, 2023. Since his arrival, he has elevated the program to never before reached heights.
In his first season, Anthony's Marauders set a new record for PSAC Championships qualifiers and he coached swimmers to six school records. Anthony's team built on that performance by recording the best PSAC Championships in program history. The 2024-25 Marauders placed fifth with four swimmers reaching the podium.Â
Before arriving at Millersville, Anthony was an assistant coach at Villanova University. He is familiar with the region as he is a native of Lancaster, Pa., a graduate of Shippensburg University and has spent two seasons with Villanova in Philadelphia.Â
Anthony quickly rose through the coaching ranks as an assistant at a pair of highly successful collegiate programs. After graduating from Shippensburg, Anthony immediately dove into the coaching profession with a graduate assistant position at Wingate--one of the top Division II programs in the country. At the 2021 NCAA Division II Championships, he helped the women's team to a sixth-place finish and the men's team to a seventh-place finish. Anthony worked primarily with the sprint groups and recruited both in the United States and internationally. Wingate totaled 137 All-America performances in his two seasons on the staff.
Anthony was a member of the 2022 and 2023 Big East Coaching Staff of the Year and part of back-to-back Big East championships. He served as the director of international recruiting while also helping one female swimmer to the NCAA Division I Championships.Â
While he was a student-athlete at Shippensburg, Anthony coached youth swimmers at Bent Creek Country Club in Lancaster. In 2019, he graduated cum laude with a degree in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education and minor in coaching. He received a master's degree in sports management from Wingate in 2021.Â
