MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — All-PSAC pole vaulters Darian Hauf and Megan Malecki added the distinction of being named Academic All-District Athletes by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA), as well as the outdoor track & field team earning the honor as a group.
To be recognized as an Academic All-District Athlete, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark for either the indoor or outdoor season.
Hauf, who is already one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history, is a biology major with a concentration in animal behavior. This marks Hauf's third time in three years that she has been one of the top student-athletes in the sport both in the field and in the classroom. The PSAC pole vault champion finished her season at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships finishing 15th in Division II.
This is the first time Malecki has earned the award, as she enjoyed her best season as a Marauder this past spring. While majoring in chemistry, Malecki finished third in the PSAC Outdoor Championships to be named all-conference in the event, joining her teammate Hauf as the only two Marauders to do so in program history.
The Marauders were one of six PSAC programs to produce at least two women All-Academic Athletes.
For a team to be recognized as Academic All-District, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for indoor and/or outdoor track & field must be 3.0 or grater on a 4.0 scale. The Marauders boasted grade point average of 3.44, the eighth highest GPA of the 13 PSAC programs to be named to the team.
