
Hauf and Downs headline list of six Marauders to earn All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Millersville outdoor track & field team had six athletes earn All-Atlantic Region status by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA), headlined by All-PSAC athletes Darian Hauf, Maddy Downs, Megan Malecki, Seya Trujillo, Morgan Janiuk, and Sarah Hessler as well.
The USTFCCCA honors the top five individuals in each event with nominations to the all-region team. Hauf earned the recognition for the third time in the pole vault, while Downs was named to her second all-region team in the discus throw. Downs also earned all-region honors for the first time in the hammer throw, as did Hessler in the discus throw, Janiuk in the 1,500-meter run, Malecki in the pole vault, and Trujillo in the hammer throw additionally.
Hauf led the Atlantic region in the pole vault, pacing the region after clearing a height of 13-2 1/4 at the Millersville Metrics and winning the conference championship in the event. Malecki joined her as she finished tied for third in the region after hitting a personal record of 12-2 3/4 to earn All-PSAC at the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
In the discus, Downs finished fourth in the Atlantic region with a throw of 143-2 at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Mid-April. Downs' throw of 162-6 also earned her All-Atlantic Region in the hammer throw, finishing just behind her teammate Trujillo, who topped out on the season with a mark of 169-11. Rounding off the throws, Hessler's distance of 145-9 in the discus throw at the Towson Invitational ended the season as the second best mark in the Atlantic region. To cap it off for the Marauders, Janiuk, who earned All-PSAC in the 1,500-meter run, added All-Atlantic region to her resume after finishing fourth with a time of 4:38.82.
