WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Timothy Peters' first-round 4-under put him in first place, and that's where he stood after the final round of the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational was called because of rain. As a team, Millersville finished in third out of seven teams.
On Monday, Peters played the par-70 Penn Oaks track bogey-free and posted three birdies on the back nine. He edged West Chester's Connor Strine by one shot. The win was Peters' third of the 2023-24 season and his seventh top-10 in 10 starts. Peters is the first Marauder to win the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational since Robert Coyne in 2013.
The third-place finish ended a streak of five consecutive tournament wins for the Marauders. Millersville posted a 12-over 292, finishing six shots behind Goldey-Beacom and five behind West Chester. Ty Morral's 73 was the team's second-lowest scoring. He finished in a tie for 10th. Carl Ernst tied for 13th with a 74. Jake Speers tied for 29th with a 79. Bobby Lugiano, who won the Vulcan Fire Classic six days earlier, shot his highest round of the season (88) and finished 39th.
Eric Miller, a West Chester native and in the field as an individual, shot a career-best 73 to finish in a tie for 10th.
Millersville hosts the Marauder Invitational on April 7-8 at Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa.
