'Ville women's golf places fifth at Vulcan Fire Classic

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team placed fifth in a field of seven teams Tuesday at the 36-hole Vulcan Fire Classic played at Lone Pine Country Club.
The par-72 course proved challenging for the entire field as West Chester won the event with a team score of 130-over-par, and Millersville came in at 168-over--the team's highest score of the season by 44 shots.
The winner finished at 24-over, but Millersville did manage a pair of top-10 finishers in Charley Kirby and Amanda Wolf. Kirby tied for seventh for her third consecutive top 10. Kirby opened with an 87 and shot an 89 on Tuesday. Wolf sat in a tie for second after the first round but slipped to 10th with a 94 in the second round.
Freshman Sydney Barnes posted rounds of 96 and 89 to tie for 17th. Taylor Hileman tied for 24th, Anabelle McGowan placed 28th and Alexis Pfeufer placed 30th in the 37-golfer field.

The Marauders play in the two-round Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational beginning April 1 and then host the Marauder Invitational at Iron Valley Golf Club on April 7-8.
