
Millersville places 17th in Paul Short 'White' Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Millersville women's cross country finished 17th in a crowded field of 35 Division II and Division III programs in the "White" run at Lehigh's Paul Short Run Saturday morning.
Millersville places fourth out of eight PSAC programs in the field, compiling 469 points while the Coast Guard Academy's 104 took first place. Adelphi had runners finish 1-2 while Millersville's top runner, Morgan Janiuk, placed 71st with a time of 24:29.4 on the 6K course. There were a total of 364 finishers in the race.
Kaycee McCullough finished two seconds and two spots behind Janiuk in the crowded field. Sophomore Olivia Sunderland ran third for the Marauders, placing 90th with a time of 24:47.5. Freshman Marissa Mounce gave the Marauders four runners under 25 minutes as she posted a 24:56.6 to place 102nd. Hannah Sweda rounded out Millersville's top five with a time of 25:32.8, placing 139th. A total of 16 Marauders completed in the race.
"Mixed bag today," said Millersville head coach Andy Young. "We had some nice performances from Sunderland and Mounce. Some OK performances and some struggles. We have a few weeks to clean up our team running and mental mistakes before the PSAC Championships."
Millersville returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Bloomsburg Invitational.
