Janiuk paces Marauders at Alumni 5K

LANCASTER, Pa. - Millersville cross country opened its 2023 season with the annual Alumni 5K, featuring runners from Franklin & Marshall and Millersville as well as alumni from both schools. Morgan Janiuk was top female finisher in the race.
Millersville's top 10 runners crossed the line before a single F&M runner did. Janiuk, now a two-time winner of the event, ran a time of 20:19 to pace the pack. Kaycee McCullough was Millersville's No. 2 runner in 20:31. Freshman Marissa Mounce posted a 20:48 in her collegiate debut, placing third. Olivia Sunderland (21:06) and Bella Musgrove (21:15) closed out Millersville's top five.
"At the season start you never quite know what is going to happen in the first competition but our hope was to hold our packs together for two miles, and then they had free reign to do whatever they wanted after that," said Millersville head coach Andy Young. "You could see it in the race as it developed, and that's what we wanted. They finished fairly strong. (Our finish) is a good indicator that we are in a good place right now."
