KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Morgan Janiuk led six Millersville Marauders in the top 25 of Friday afternoon's Kutztown Division II/III Challenge.
It was Millersville's first action since Sept. 2 and the first against Division II competition. There were 10 teams in the field, including PSAC foes Bloomsburg, Kutztown, Shepherd and Shippensburg. Millersville finished fourth.
Janiuk paced the Marauders with a time of 24:22.7, finishing behind Bloomsburg's Kelley Selheimer, who ran a 23:57.7. Bella Musgrove (25:46.5) placed 15th and Bri Pollock (25:53.7) took 17th. Hannah Sweda (26:11.3), Olivia Sunderland (26:19.1) and Abby Bond (26:19.7) finished in a tight pack from 23rd through 25th.
"Morgan ran a very patient and relaxed race," said Millersville head coach Andy Young. "There is a lot more for her in the future as she starts to get faster. The team had some nice packs today. Bella Musgrove had a breakout performance along with Bri Pollock doing a great job in her first college race."
Breia Mayes (36th), Emma Armstrong (40th), Emily Massage (42nd), Liz Schaefer (54th), Emily Sykes (62nd), Brynne Metz (63rd) and CLara Burnell (67th) also competed in the 89-runner field.
"I'm excited for this group as we had a few people not race today that will make a difference in future races."
