Meakim shoots 65, Marauders place second at Elizabethtown Invitational

HERSHEY, Pa. - Millersville University sophomore Bo Meakim shot a 6-under-par 65 to capture his first career tournament win, and the Marauders placed second at Tuesday's Elizabethtown Invitational hosted on the Hershey Country Club East Course.

Meakim is the first Marauder to post a 6-under score since Connor Sheehan in 2017, although Sheehan's was shot on a par 72 set-up. He's also the first Marauder since Matt Spak on Oct. 19, 2018 to win a tournament. Meakim went out with a 2-under 34 on the front side and closed with a flurry, posting a 4-under on the back nine. The round was 12 shots better than Meakim's previous career best, which was a 6-over 77 posted nine days ago at the Vulcan Invitational.

Meakim, however, was not in the Marauders' lineup Tuesday, and was instead competing as an individual. Senior Carl Ernst's career-low round of 1-over-par 72 paced Millersville's countable scores. Freshmen Timothy Peters and Jake Speers posted matching rounds of 75. Ty Morral shot a 76. Bobby Lugiano overcame a rocky first nine 42 by rallying with a 1-under-par back nine for a 76.

Millersville's 298 was good for second place in the 14-team field. Scranton took home the team trophy.

Millersville is off until Sunday, Sept. 24 when it competes in the Dickinson Invitational held at the Carlisle Barracks course.
