HOW IT HAPPENED
•Slippery Rock was on the board first with two goals in the first three minutes of regulation. Back-and-forth action put the game in close distance. SRU would score two back-to-back goals to lead Millersville 6-3, but Genovese tallied her first goal of the game with 0:22 left in the first quarter to trail SRU by two.
•The Marauders created offensive momentum and scored three consecutive goals in the second to trail SRU 8-7. Slippery Rock would maintain their lead by answering with two goals of their own. Two goals from Simonetti cut the Marauders deficit to one with under two minutes until the half, but an effective SRU offense scored twice in the final 29 seconds to lead Millersville 13-10 heading into the third quarter.
•Each team would account for three goals in the third, but Millersville still trailed by three goals to enter the final quarter of regulation. Slippery Rock scored their 17th goal in the first two minutes but was then held scoreless for the rest of the game. With the score 17-15, Genovese cut the margin to one goal with 2:53 remaining. The Marauders would gain possession and enter their attacking end, but a caused turnover by Slippery Rock would end the Marauders' chance of scoring again.
