Millersville storms past Bloomsburg for seventh in a row

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Matt Dade scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds and led the way to Millersville's runaway 94-56 win over Bloomsburg Saturday. The win was Millersville's seventh in a row and the largest margin of victory over Bloomsburg since 1957.

There is something about Dade against the Huskies. He scored 21 in the first meeting of the season and has now totaled at least 15 points five times in six career games against Bloomsburg. The Huskies played zone in hopes of eliminating Dade's post presence, but it was to no avail. The Marauders scored 48 points in the paint, and it only opened up the 3-point shot for Justin Nwosu and crew. Nwosu canned 4-of-7 from three, and Millersville finished with 11 makes at 37.9%.

"Justin had a great game today," said Millersville head coach Casey Stitzel. "When we make shots from the perimeter it makes us tough to guard because we have a couple of guards who can get into the paint. We have some really good post players that they have to double. That's when we are at our best, making the extra pass and finding guys who are hitting shots. I thought we did a great job sharing the ball against the zone."

Nwosu scored 16 points. Freshman Day Waters shot 5-of-9 from the field and made two threes for 12 points. Drew Stover added 10 in 18 minutes. Millersville's 94 points were the most scored in a PSAC game this season.

Bloomsburg lingered, and it was just a one-possession game with fewer than nine minutes remaining in the first half. But Waters scored eight points as part of a 25-8 run to close the half. Jahme Ested provided the exclamation point, hitting a step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer.

"In the beginning, our defense wasn't great," said Stitzel. "(Bloomsburg) started a small lineup that threw us off, but we settled in and ended the half on a good note. To start the second half we had a lot of energy. The first 10 minutes, we did a great job extending the lead. With a three-game week coming up, it was good to get the starters some rest."
