ABOUT THE GAME
- Five teams have clinched their spot in the Eastern Division for the PSAC Tournament and the Marauders are currently holding at third place with two regular season games remaining. Wednesday’s game against West Chester can impact Millersville’s standings as well as decide if the Marauders will host their first-round tournament match-up. Millersville is 16-10 overall and 11-9 in the PSAC, trailing the Marauders in the standings is East Stroudsburg who is fourth in the PSAC East with a 11-10 conference record. West Chester is fighting for a first place seeding on Wednesday as they are tied with Shippensburg with a 16-4 record.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
- Millersville is coming off their first loss since Jan. 25 after Shippensburg snapped the Marauders six game win streak last Wednesday. Despite the loss to the Raiders, Millersville’s six-game win streak increased the Marauders’ standings in the PSAC Eastern Division as they clinched big wins over Kutztown, Lock Haven, and East Stroudsburg.
- On the road, Millersville is 7-4 overall and 6-4 against PSAC East opponents. The Marauders are averaging 63.7 points per game in away contests from shooting .407 from the floor and .276 from behind the arc. Playing in February, Millersville is currently 5-1 with their lone loss coming from Shippensburg.
- The Marauders' starting line-up has remained consistent throughout the season with Taylor Langan, Brenna Ortwein, Makiah Shaw, Marin Miller, and Bria Beverly leading the Millersville squad. Langan picked up her second consecutive PSAC East weekly award last week as she was honored as the PSAC East Athlete of the Week. The guard has notched 16 games this season scoring double-digits including five games scoring over 20 points. With an impressive freshman year, Miller is averaging 11.5 points per game and leads Millersville from behind the arc with 35 made three-pointers.
SCOUTING WEST CHESTER
- The Golden Rams are rolling past opponents as they are currently on a 12-game win streak. Wednesday’s match-up with Millersville could determine whether the Golden Rams clinch the first seed in the Eastern Division as they are tied with Shippensburg for the top spot. In the most recent Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings, West Chester made an appearance on the list of teams under consideration to make the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament.
- West Chester’s offense ranks second in the conference with an average of 74.2 points per game. Leading the Golden Rams in scoring are Emily McAteer and Leah Johnson who average at least 15 points for West Chester. McAteer ranks fifth in the PSAC in rebounding (8.5 avg), and eighth in scoring (15.8 ppg) and field goal percentage (.515). Johnson leads West Chester in steals (2.1 avg.) and dishes out an average of 6.9 assists per game. Another key player for the Golden Rams is Michelle Kozicki who averages 13.5 points per game while also ranking fourth in the conference in rebounding.
