LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Five members of the Millersville University football program were recognized as All-PSAC East on Wednesday. Running back Jaheim Morris and linebacker Garrett Cox were first team selections while wide receiver Mekhi Alexander, defensive end Randy Okungu, and punter Zach Banta were voted to the second team.
It is the first time since 1999-2000 that Millersville has produced five All-PSAC East selections in back-to-back seasons. Morris, Cox and Banta are all repeat honorees. Morris was a second team selection in 2022 and is now the first Marauder running back since Joe Flamish (1998-2000) to be named All-PSAC East twice. Cox is a back-to-back first team honoree--the first Marauder linebacker since Joe Hollister (2002-04) to achieve that feat. Banta is the first Marauder punter since George Rule in 1979-80 named All-PSAC East twice.
Morris was recognized by the division's coaches despite missing three full games and being limited in three others. Morris still managed to rank seventh in the entire PSAC in rushing yards (609), averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Morris' 229 yards against Shepherd were the most by a Marauder since 2008.
Cox put up numbers that ranked among the best in Division II. He led the PSAC and ranked eighth nationally in total tackles. He also led the PSAC with 16 1/2 tackles for loss and ranked seventh in sacks with 7 1/2. He recorded double-digit tackles in nine of 11 games.
Alexander led Millersville in receptions for the third season in a row, pulling in 36 catches for 488 yards and a team-high four touchdown catches. He made at least one catch in all 11 games and made seven catches of 20 yards or longer.
Okungu totaled 5 1/2 sacks, eight tackles for loss and two forced fumbles while starting all 11 games. He ranked 19th in the PSAC in sacks.
Banta, who set a Millersville record for single-season punting average in 2022, set a program record with an 83-yard punt this season. He averaged 39.5 yards per punt, dropping 11 inside the 20 with five touchbacks.
