MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville women's lacrosse continued its hot start to the season with a 20-5 victory over the visiting Dominican Chargers. This is the most goals 'Ville has scored through its two first games since the 2014 season. The Marauders put up nine goals in the first quarter for the second straight game, which led to their dominate 15-goal win.
Millersville improves to 2-0 on the season, while Dominican drops to 1-2.
Ashlyn Simonetti led the Marauders with five points on the day, coming from three assists and two goals.
Amanda Juliano,
Charlotte Lasak,
Gillian Zimmerman, and
Kristi Kada led the team in scoring with three goals each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Grace Cobaugh started the big offensive day for Millersville, converting a free position with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter to put 'Ville up one. The Marauders then converted two more free position attempts in the 1:14 to go up 3-0, those goals coming from Zimmerman and Juliano. Millersville would go on to score six more goals in the first quarter.
• The Marauders continued strong play in the second quarter, scoring three more goals in the first five minutes of play.
Ella Linthicum scored the first goal of the second quarter just 15 seconds in off an impressive give from Cobaugh. Millersville would go on to shut-out the Chargers in first-half play and take a 17-0 lead going into halftime.
• The Chargers were able to capitalize on a free position shot early in third-quarter action, as Grace DeStasio scored to cut the 'Ville lead to 16 with 11 minutes remaining in the quarter. Despite being held scoreless for most of the third, Millersville scored two late goals to jump ahead 18 before the final 15 minutes.
• Dominican outscored Millersville 4-1 in the final quarter of play.

• Simonetti led the Marauders with five points, while Juliano followed with four of her own.
• Juliano led the team in shots (7) and shots on goal (6). Lasak also recorded seven shots on the day.
• Defensive midfielder, Marycait Dorley, led the team in ground balls with four.
• Lasak and Kada each caused a team-high one turnover.

Morgan Scott held the Chargers scoreless in the first half of play, while Mckenna Billie allowed five goals in the second half, making three saves.
• The Marauders out-shot the visiting Chargers, 39-12.
• Millersville was 11-14 on clears, while Holy Family was 7-15.
• 'Ville held the edge in ground balls (21-19) and extra man opportunities (2-0).
