ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville is looking for its third win in a row Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Gymnasium, and second win in six days against the visiting East Stroudsburg Warriors. The Marauders took down the Warriors on Monday earlier this week in a defensive battle, as ‘Ville won 49-43 and Lauren Lister was the only player on either team to reach double-digits with 13 points. The Marauders then held a Shippensburg team that averages over 65 points per game to just 42 on Wednesday, leading them to a 61-42 victory. This leads them into Saturday’s game, which not only is a chance for them to build on their largest winning streak of the season, but to edge closer to playoff contention in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East.

LISTER WATCH

  • Standout guard, Lauren Lister, is currently 101 points (1,899 total) away from reaching 2,000 at Millersville. The redshirt senior would need to average 12.6 points per game for the remainder of the regular season (eight games) to reach that number.
This week is a crucial week for our team if we still want a chance at the postseason. Therefore, we are focused on taking one game at a time and continuing to grow together.
Head Coach Sharay Hall

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville continues to show up on the defensive end of the floor, which allows the team to produce offense off fast break opportunities and opposing teams' turnovers. The Marauders force the second most turnovers in the PSAC at 21.7 per game, a majority of those forced turnovers come from veteran guards, Lauren Lister and Ty Taylor, who each average a team-high 1.8 steals per contest.
  • Over ‘Ville’s last six games they've gone 4-2, while holding opposing offenses to just 53 points per game and winning three of the games by 10 or more points. Head Coach Sharay Hall's full-court press + zone half-court scheme has them ranked as the No. 8 defense in the PSAC.
  • The offense comes primarily from Millersville's all-time leading scorer, Lister. The guard averages a team-high 13.3 points per game and has scored over 25 in two of the team's last four games. She has been getting assistance from freshman forward, Makiah Shaw. Shaw has scored in double-digits in two of the last four games, which also are her two best scoring performances of the season.
  • The Marauders have been doing a very good job at getting to the free throw line this season, ranking third in the PSAC in free throw attempts at 356. If they can continue to improve from the line they'll be able to hurt opposing defenses in that aspect of the game.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • East Stroudsburg currently ranks last in margin over scoring this season, getting outscored by 14.1 points per game; However, they earned their largest victory of the season last week over Shippensburg, 62-43. This win came behind 18 points from Izzy Vogal and 10 from leading scorer, Ryan Weise.
  • Weise has reached double-figures in six of ESU's last eight games, and scored over 17 in three of them. She ranks third in the PSAC in three-point field goals made (45). Vogal saw her two highest scoring games come in January, as she scored 18 in the victory over Shippensburg and 15 in a loss to Gannon.

THE LAST TIME OUT

East Stroudsburg:  Kutztown 54, East Stroudsburg 36 (Feb. 2, 2022) -  The current leader in the PSAC East, Kutztown, proved to be too much for the last-place Warriors. The No. 24 Golden Bears held ESU to its second lowest scoring total of the season in route to an 18-point victory in Kutztown.

SERIES HISTORY

THE LAST MEETING

  • Millersville 49, East Stroudsburg 43 (Jan. 31, 2022) - The Marauder defense was able to stop anything the Warriors tried to get going on the offensive end of the court, holding them to 43 total points and not allowing any Warrior to reach double-digits. Lister's 13 points (2-2 3PT) was enough for the Marauders to leave ESU with a victory.
