ABOUT THE GAME

  • The Marauders will look to stretch their win streak by hosting back-to-back matchups this weekend against PSAC West opponents, Edinboro and Mercyhurst. The Marauders face off with Edinboro on Friday night and Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. Millersville has not competed against Edinboro or Mercyhurst since the 2019-20 season.  

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville has won four of the last five games of the season, their lone loss coming from Virginia Union back on Nov. 13. Since the loss, the Marauders have scored 90 or more points over their opponents, with their largest margin of victory over Rosemont with a score of 119-29. In the most recent D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Poll, Millersville made an appearance as they are tied for 10th with PSAC West opponent Slippery Rock.  
  • Defensively, Millersville is holding opponents to scoring 46.2 points per game which is the second lowest average in the PSAC. The Marauders force 28.2 turnovers per game which they capitalize from by totaling 32.8 points off turnovers. Millersville ranks No. 1 in the PSAC in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 36.2 points per game.  
  • The Marauders offensive performance has been led by Graduate student Taylor Langan, she’s averaging 15.4 points per contest and grabs an average of 5.0 rebounds. The freshman point guard, Marin Miller, has made an immediate impact for the Marauders as she is the second leading scorer. Miller is shooting .500 from both the floor and behind the arc, sinking nine three-pointers so far on the season.

SCOUTING THE FIGHTING SCOTS

  • Edinboro is coming into the weekend with a 3-2 record, falling in their most recent matchup 84-86 in a double overtime thriller against the University of Findlay. The Scots are averaging 78.0 points per game with their leading scorer, Hayley Sims, averaging 19.2 points per contest. Rana Elhusseini is another offensive contributor for the Scots, she averages 18.2 points while producing 3.8 assists per game. 

SCOUTING THE LAKERS

  • Mercyhurst enters the weekend 2-2, winning their last three contests which include a win over Division I University at Buffalo, 70-68. The Lakers lead the PSAC in scoring, putting an average of 86.8 points on the board. Julia Buchman and Lexi Wagner lead the Lakers offense with their average of 10.8 ppg. Mercyhurst also leads the conference in free throws, going 63-for-74 from the charity stripe. 

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville: Millersville 92, Penn State Abington 37 (Nov. 27, 2022)- The Marauders marked their third straight game scoring at least 90 points over opponents with their win against the Lions. Millersville saw 14 different players in the box with four reaching double-digits. Brenna Ortwein led the Marauders with her current season high of 14-points.  
  • Edinboro: University of Findlay 86, Edinboro 84 (Nov. 22, 2022) - The Scots fell in a double-overtime contest against the Oilers. Despite the loss, Hayley Sims tallied 34-points, five rebounds, four steals, two blocks, and an assist. Ashten Boggs trailed Sims with 22-points and six boards.
  • Mercyhurst: Mercyhurst 96, Roberts Wesleyan 61 (Nov. 29, 2022)- Mercyhurst dominated on both sides of the court. The Lakers made 19 three-pointers and Lexi Wagner drained seven of them, leading with 23 points in the contest. Defensively, Mercyhurst forced 22 turnovers and held Roberts Wesleyan to shooting 37.0% from the floor.

SERIES HISTORY VS. EDINBORO

Edinboro currently leads the all-time series over Millersville, with 11 wins compared to Millersville’s 10. At home, the Marauders split with the Scots 6-6 and clinched the last meeting with Edinboro, giving Millersville a one game win streak.  

  • The Last Meeting vs. Edinboro – Millersville 85, Edinboro 78 (Dec. 7, 2019)- Lister paced the Marauders with 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting, including a 10-of-11 mark from the free throw line. Olivia Mottern poured in 20 points, including a 4-of-8 effort from the 3-point line. Courtney Dimoff (12 points) was the only other Marauder to reach double figures.  

 

SERIES HISTORY VS. MERCYHURST

Millersville currently holds the all-time series lead on Mercyhurst at 7-3, but the Marauders haven’t defeated the Lakers since 2014. Millersville has fallen in their last three matchups with the Lakers.   

  • The Last Meeting vs. Mercyhurst Mercyhurst 76, Millersville 69 (Nov. 23, 2019)- The Millersville women's basketball team outscored Mercyhurst 38-37 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to recover the 25-point effort by the Lakers in the second quarter. Despite eight lead changes and four tied scores, Mercyhurst pulled ahead in the final minutes to top Millersville, 76-69.
