WILMINGTON, De. – The Marauders traveled for their first away game of the season on Tuesday night, defeating the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom by a 29-point margin. Millersville is coming off an 83-point win over Rosemont College and used that same offensive momentum to beat Goldey-Beacom, 93-64.
Millersville outscored the Lightning 29-15 in the second quarter, which created a cushion Goldey-Beacom couldn't break. Inside the box, Taylor Langan led the Marauders in points with 23, her current season-high. Marin Miller, Makiah Shaw, and Morgan Mahoney all tied with 11-points on the night and La'Shyra Williams tallied 10-points. Â Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
• By the end of the first quarter, The Marauders only held a six-point lead over the Lightning. Heading into quarter two, 'Ville dominated by scoring 16-points before Goldey-Beacom hit a three, trailing Millersville 35-16. With shooting 58.8% from the floor and forcing eight turnovers, the Marauders outscored the Lightning 29-16, leading Goldey-Beacom by 20-points at the half.
•The Lightning entered the third quarter looking to cut the deficit and picked up 8-points in the first two minutes. Goldey-Beacom scored 12-points off nine Millersville turnovers, but the Marauders went on a 14-6 run in the last six minutes to maintain their lead.
•In the final ten minutes, Millersville kept their consistency by shooting 45% from the floor and scoring 23-16 over the Lightning. The Marauders scored 13-points from nine turnovers and limited the Lighting to shooting 7-14 from the floor. Â
