MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville traveled to Shippensburg Saturday for a pair of duals and fell 24-17 to Belmont Abbey and 23-9 to PSAC foe Mercyhurst. 

184-pound Anthony Giampietro was the lone Marauder to go 2-0 on the day. Millersville's record dropped to 4-5 (1-3 PSAC). Belmont Abbey, which was receiving votes in the latest NWCA Division II poll, improved to 7-4. Mercyhurst, ranked 19th, won all three of its dual Saturdays to run its record to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in PSAC action. 

MILLERSVILLE VS. BELMONT ABBEY
• It was the first-ever meeting between Millersville and Belmont Abbey, and it was decided in the final bout. Devin Flannery's 18-3 technical fall at 133 pounds got the Marauders on the board. Two matches later, Jonathan Parrilla rolled to a 12-2 major decision at 157 pounds. That evened the dual at 9-9. Mitch Dean, nationally-ranked at 157 pounds, wrestled up a weight class and edged Brandon Connor for a three-point Belmont Abbey lead. Anthony Yacovetti's 7-3 decision followed by Giampietro's 16-1 tech fall, which ended with three seconds left in the match, put Millersville on top 17-12 with two bouts remaining. Belmont Abbey, however, got back-to-back pins at 197 and 285 to complete the come-from-behind effort.

MILLERSVILLE VS. MERCYHURST
• Millersville was within striking distance of an upset late, but for the second match in a row, Millersville's opponent sealed the win with victories in the last two bouts. Those were the only two bouts not decided by a decision. Bryce Beatty earned an 8-5 win at 125 pounds, and Guy DeLeonardis won a 5-2 decision at 165 pounds to make the team score 12-6. After Yacovetti was injured in his Belmont Abbey match-up, Brandon Connor bumped up a weight to fill in but was edged, 9-2. Giampietro gave the Marauders some hope and pulled the team within six points by getting past Brent Burbules, 8-7. But a major decision at 197 and a pin at 285 clinched the win for Mercyhurst.
