Lister's 30 points leads Marauders past Slippery Rock

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – It was a game-tying Makiah Shaw three-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation that forced overtime and allowed Millersville to capture its second home victory of the season against a solid Slippery Rock team, 76-66.

The Marauders scored a season-high 76 points in their only overtime game of the season, as this was also their first game with three players in double-digits. Lauren Lister was able to fight through contact for most of the game to post a season-high 30 points, none more important than her 11 in overtime that led 'Ville to outscore The Rock 18-8 in the addition five minutes of play.  Ty Taylor and Makiah Shaw also recorded season-highs, as Shaw scored 15 and Taylor snuck into double-digits with 10. Taylor was all over the floor in her 31 minutes off the bench, grabbing a team-high seven rebounds and forcing several Slippery Rock turnovers.

Millersville (3-13, 2-9 PSAC) caused a strong Slippery Rock (10-5, 5-4 PSAC) team to make mistakes on the offensive end of the floor, forcing them to 33 total turnovers, including five in overtime, its second highest turnover total this season. In addition, they forced All-American candidate, Jamiyah Johnson, to her season-high in turnovers, as the nation's leading rebounder (15.6 per game) gave up the ball six times; However, she was still able to record a dominate stat-line, scoring 23 points to go along with 18 rebounds.

'Ville will head to Bloomsburg on Saturday, Jan. 29 for a rematch with the Huskies who beat Millersville at home earlier this month. That game was air-tight for the first three quarters, until Bloomsburg was able to outscore the Marauders by 10 in the final quarter. Although these teams met just 11 days ago, this Millersville team has found new life, and will look to push for a playoff spot in the East down the stretch.
