Quotes From Head Coach Brian Smith
On tonight's loss
"Well we dug ourselves a big hole in set one. What you want to see from a young team is what kind of fight they have in them. We kept working and closed the gap."
On this weekend's road trip
"This trip to Florida will help greatly. The level of talent there will be much greater than we have seen so far so it will be very challenging. We know that players do not battle well until they bond. This trip allows the team to finally spend some quality time together off the court and also perhaps for the first time we get to see the freshman and get a greater sense of who they are and how better to interact and communicate with them. We always see an increase in chemistry after our first overnight trip with each other. It's a very important part of becoming a team."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jefferson stuck first in set one, scoring the first three points of the match. The Rams would pick up a 25-20 win in the first set.
- In the second set, Ville looked to right the ship as the Marauders led 4-2 early. After a back and forth run, Jefferson would rattle off five straight points late in the set, securing their 25-14 win in the second set.
- The third set started off ominously, as the Rams scored nine of the first ten points. Millersville would battle back, scoring six straight points, cutting the Ram lead to two. Another five-point rally towards the middle of the set would create breathing room for Jefferson, who secured their sweep with a 25-18 win.
