
Men's Golf takes 11th at Vulcan Invitational

BELLE VERNON, Pa. – Competing in their first event of the fall semester, the Millersville University men's golf team took 11th out of the 16 teams participating in the Vulcan Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The men's team got off to a strong start in the first round, shooting 294 as a group. Austin Lauver recorded a 71 in the opening round, the lowest total for any Marauder over the three-round tournament.
- Millersville's score would climb slowly each of the following rounds as the team turned in a 296 and 309 in the second and third rounds.
- The Marauders would take 11th place as a team, shooting an 899 collectively, 40strokes off the champion, Charleston.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Christopher Knox would end up finishing with a team low 222 over his three rounds, as he averaged 74 strokes per round.
- Knox would finish 31st as an individual as 80 student-athletes competed between 16 teams.
- Knox also recorded two eagles, good for second in the tournament behind individual champion Alex Easthom of West Liberty.
- Easthom had the lowest individual score as he shot a 205.
- Charleston won the event with a team score of 859, finishing one stroke ahead of West Liberty for the tournament title.
- "Captain Chris Knox played very well… he had a good tournament."
- "The competition is very tough so we will have to step it up."
