Men's soccer faces off with East Stroudsburg Wednesday night

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Men's soccer is set to host East Stroudsburg (ESU) on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with a chance to move above .500 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East standings. 
  • Millersville is coming off a home win over Shepherd last Saturday, 1-0. Anthony Calamia scored a second half goal assisted by Spencer Shortt that proved to be enough for a Ville' win. The Marauders dominated to box score, holding an edge in shots 29-6, shots on goal 15-3, and corner opportunities 9-1. They will look to continue that offensive attack heading into Wednesday's match. 
  • ESU is coming off a high scoring match against Lock Haven that resulted in a draw, 3-3. The game saw six total goals, two coming from Bradley Turocy who also assisted on a goal in the contest. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the match before giving up three straight Lock Haven goals. Turocy scored his second goal in the 78th minute to tie the game at three.  
  • Millersville currently sits at the No. 4 spot in the PSAC East standings, while ESU is No. 7. 

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders have outplayed most of their opponents this far into the season. Holding an edge in goals (15-9), shots (158-57), shots on frame (78-26), and corner kicks (69-31).  
  • Spencer Shortt has continued to show how important he is to the team, leading the group in goals (4), assists (5), and points (13). The forward also ranks top-10 in the PSAC in goals, assists, points, shots (29), and shots on goal (15). 
  • Anthony Calamia has also been a key part of the Marauder attack, scoring three goals of his own, including two game-winning goals. 
  • The Marauders currently rank second in shots on goal in the PSAC with 78.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • ESU has outscored their opponents this year 21-16, and has outshot them 152-66. 
  • The Warriors have three players with four or more goals on the season, Turocy Bradley (6), Lucas Marques (5), and Colby Raymond (4). 
  • Raymond currently leads the PSAC in shots with 37 on the year. While Turocy and Marques both rank top five in the PSAC in goals. 
  • Evan Miele has started six games in goal for the Warriors, posting a 3-3 record. Nivk Mazella has made two appearances in goal for ESU, recording one tie.
