Men's soccer hosts West Chester in "Pink out Pucillo" game

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Men's soccer is set to host West Chester on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. in a No. 2 versus No. 3 matchup in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East with only four games left in the regular season. The game has playoff implications all over it, as only the top three teams in each division earn a playoff birth. 
  • Millersville is coming off a road victory at Shippensburg in which they matched their season high in goals in the first half alone with four. The Marauders would hold on to their lead in the second half to pull out a 4-3 win. Bob Hennessey scored two goals in two minutes and recorded an assist in the match, while captain Matteo Adiletta scored a goal of his own and added two assists. 
  • West Chester is coming off of a 1-3 loss to the current top team in the PSAC East standings, Lock Haven. The Golden Rams were on a two game winning streak prior to the loss, knocking off East Stroudsburg and Shepard at home the week before. 
  • 'Ville is hosting a “Pink out Pucillo” game in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team is encouraging Marauder fans to wear pink in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders have outplayed most of their opponents this far into the season. Holding an edge in goals (23-16), shots (220-86), shots on frame (106-39), and corner kicks (85-54).
  • Spencer Shortt has continued to show how important he is to the team, leading the group in goals (6), assists (6), and points (18). The forward also ranks top-10 in the PSAC in goals (7th), assists (4th), points (5th), shots (9th), and shots on goal (7th).
  • Anthony Calamia has also been a key part of the Marauder attack, scoring four goals of his own and tacking on two assists. The redshirt junior has also fired in 42 shots on the season, 18 of which landed on goal. 
  • Bob Hennessey has came alive lately as well, scoring three goals in the last two games for the Marauders. The midfielder has also dished out two assists in that time. 
  • The Marauders currently rank third in shots on goal in the PSAC with 106.
  • Millersville's goalie tandem, Brady Hochman and Bobby Bosch, has led the defense to a current top-five ranking in goals allowed on the year in the PSAC. The defense has only given up 16 goals in their 13 games played.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS

  • West Chester has outscored their opponents this year 17-10, but has gotten out shot 136-138. The Golden Rams do usually hold an edge in corner opportunities though at 60-43 on the year. 
  • Doug Goitia leads the Golden Ram offensive attack with five goals and two assists. Ryan Keenan is just behind him with three goals to go along with an assist. Midfielder Josh Daniels currently leads the team in assists, dishing out four on the season. 
  • West Chester keeper, Daniel Good, has been a rock in goal this year for the Golden Rams. The junior ranks first in the PSAC in saves with 51, second in saves per game at 5.67, and ranks top-five in the PSAC in shutouts per game (.333, 3 total), and goals against average (.892).
