MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The No. 17-ranked East Stroudsburg wrestling team spoiled senior day for the Millersville Marauders, winning seven of the ten bouts in Saturday's dual meet and claiming a 31-12 victory. Millersville honored senior
Evan Morrill prior to the dual meet, who is the only senior on the Marauders' 2019-2020 roster.
Â
The dual opened up with a forfeit to Millersville freshman
Travis Kotelnicki at 125 pounds.
Ryan McGuire added a 7-2 decision at 141 pounds to give the Marauders a 9-4 lead in the team score, but East Stroudsburg won the next five bouts to open up a 25-9 lead. Ville sophomore
Reece Muldoon, wrestling only his fourth match of the season, earned a 6-5 decision at 197 pounds to collect his third victory of the 2019-2020 season.

DUAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Sophomore
Ryan McGuire began his bout at 141 pounds with aggression, attacking the legs East Stroudsburg's Matt Rosa. McGuire took Rosa down early in the first period and did not let him earn an escape point, riding him the rest of the way. The second period was a near repeat of the first, as McGuire took Rosa down again and kept him on the mat. McGuire seemed on track for a major decision but Rosa executed a late third period reversal to earn his first points of the bout. Despite being awarded the riding time point, McGuire had to settle for the 8-2 decision and was denied bonus points.
Â
• The 149-pound bout between Millersville's
Jackson Erb and East Stroudsburg's Pierre Liciaga was a back-and-forth affair. Erb earned the first takedown of the match but Liciaga struck right back with two of his own. Erb escaped to tie the bout at 3, and the bout was stopped twice to allow Erb to deal with a sickness. Erb recovered and was aggressive in the third period but simply ran out of time, as Liciaga held on for the 8-6 decision.

Reece Muldoon has made an immediate impact after returning to the Millersville lineup at 197 pounds. Last Saturday he helped secure a dual meet win over Davis & Elkins with a critical fall, and against East Stroudsburg he came out of the gates flying against Clayton Green. Two takedowns helped build a comfortable lead for Muldoon and he led the bout 6-3 heading into the third period. Green added a pair of points to close the gap to 6-5, but Muldoon held on for the victory.
POST-DUAL REACTION FROM HEAD COACH KERRY REGNER
•
On senior day for two-sport athlete Evan Morrill: "We're thankful to have Evan. It's a select group, regardless of sport, of how many people play collegiate athletics, and a smaller group than that who complete four years of athletics. To do that in two sports is really an achievement and we're proud to give him special recognition."
•
On moving forward and the message to the team: "Tomorrow's coming. Tomorrow will be here at the same time as it is for everyone else. The question is, "What are you going to do with it?"
