Marauders win three dual meets at 2020 Kutztown Duals

| By:
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Millersville Marauders wrestling team survived a grueling day of action at the Kutztown Duals and emerged with three wins and one loss. The Ville opened up at 10 a.m. versus UNC Pembroke and suffered a 30-7 loss, but quickly recovered and rattled off three straight dual meet victories over Davis & Elkins (22-21), American International (33-22), and Queens College (32-14.)

A trio of Marauders, Elijah Tuckey (141 pounds), Brandon Connor (157 pounds), and Caleb Warner (285 pounds) won three of their matches on the day. Four other Marauders ended the day with two victories apiece, including a pair of freshmen: Jackson Erb at 149 pounds and Jarrett Feeney at 165 pounds. Sophomore 133-pounder Anthony Wiggins and senior 184-pounder Evan Morrill also won two bouts.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE KUTZTOWN DUALS
• The Marauders had a wild finish in the dual with Davis & Elkins College. The Ville trailed 21-10 with just two matches remaining. Reece Muldoon earned a one-minute fall over Charles Morrison in the 197-pound bout to close the gap to 21-16, and heavyweight Caleb Warner came through and clutched out a four-minute fall over Daimere Wilson-Turner to clinch the dual meet victory for the Black and Gold.

• Brandon Connor's three-win day included a 12-3 major decision over UNC Pembroke's Joseph Perez followed by another major, 13-4, over Davis and Elkins' John Finnerty. He had a small setback against American International, getting caught and giving up a fall to Baltazar Gonzalez in 3:16. He shrugged off the loss and refocused for a 16-0 technical fall over Jude Lloyd from Queens College that took only 3:30.

• Freshman Elijah Tuckey did not wrestle against UNC Pembroke but began his day with a 9-2 decision over Davis & Elkins' Nicholas Natarcola. He was forfeited to in the dual against AIC and capped off the afternoon with an 8-5 decision over Devinaire Hayes of Queens College.

POST-DUAL REACTION FROM HEAD COACH KERRY REGNER
•On Reece Muldoon and Caleb Warner's back-to-back falls in the Davis & Elkins dual: "We had a couple guys step up big and that was great. We had to get two pins. They knew they needed bonus points. Coach (Ryan) Whittle does a good job of prepping the guys, telling them what's necessary and prepping me as well. They went out there and got it done. We're aware of what a guy like Reece can do and it was good for the team and good for him to get the opportunity."

•On Brandon Connor's three-win day and the team's overall performance at the Kutztown Duals: "Brandon had a really good day and he looked sharp. He was beating up on his opponent's legs and scoring a lot. Overall, we need to control what we can control. We won three duals. We have a grateful attitude that we get to go out, travel, and compete. It's gratifying that we can wear a Millersville uniform and have everyone behind us, including all of our trainers, administrators, and support staff."

NOTES
• Today's three victories improve Millersville's overall dual meet record to 5-7 in 2019-2020.
