THE MATCH-UP
• Millersville is in the middle of perhaps the most challenging stretch of games that any team in the PSAC will face all season. The PSAC has three teams ranked in the top 25 and Millersville plays all three teams in consecutive weeks. Last week, the Marauders fell to 1-1 with a loss to No. 24 IUP. Next week, No. 18 West Chester comes to Millersville. This week, The Marauders travel to the highest-ranked team in the league, No. 11 Slippery Rock, for a night game.Â
• Millersville is in search of its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since Nov. 10, 2001 when the Marauders knocked off then-No. 2-ranked IUP at home, 30-26.Â
• Slippery Rock owns the most productive offense in Division II, averaging 58.0 points per game after scoring 62 against Wayne State in the opener and 54 against Shippensburg last week. The Rock ranks fourth nationally in total offense with 569.0 yards per game, and they own the top-ranked passing offense with 408.0 yards per game. Roland Rivers III has thrown a Division II-high 10 touchdown passes, ranks second in passing yards per game (387.0) and ranks fourth in completion percentage (.750).Â
• Two of his favorite targets are ranked in the nation's top 10 in receiving touchdowns. Henry Litwin and Jermaine Wynn Jr., are tied for third with four. Wynn Jr.'s 285 yards are fourth-best in Division II while Litwin's 272 rank seventh.Â
• Millersville's offense is looking for a jump-start after playing two top defenses in each of the first two weeks. Pace, the week one opponent, ranks second in the NE-10 in scoring defense, and the Marauders were shut out in week two against the PSAC's No. 1-ranked defense in IUP. Slippery Rock's offense is tough to slow down, but The Rock's first two opponents have had success moving the ball as well. The Rock ranks 14th in the PSAC in total defense, allowing 427 yards per game. They rank ninth against the run and 12th against the pass.Â
• Historically, PSAC crossover games have been unkind to the Marauders. Millersville is 25-69-1 all-time against current PSAC West teams. Millersville has won just three games against the current PSAC West roster since 2007. Slippery Rock is 21-12 against the East since the mandated crossover schedule began in 2008 including a 2-3 record in five PSAC Championship games.Â
• Saturday's 6 p.m., kickoff marks Millersville's second night game of the season. The Marauders opened the season with a night game win at Pace and are 40-28 all-time in night games with at least one night game win in each of the last four seasons. Slippery Rock has won 15 consecutive home night games.Â
• Slippery Rock has a true home field advantage, posting a winning record at home each season since 2005. It has not lost more than one home game in any of the last eight seasons, producing a 42-5 home record since 2011.Â
COACH MORGAN'S SCOUTING REPORT
•
On learning from last week's game vs. IUP:Â "Having the ability to play a lot of young players and get them quality game reps is a benefit. I think it is good for our team right now to see what needs to be done to get to the level--a high level--of PSAC football. It is always good to witness that up close and personal. We want to let that be a motivator for us moving forward."
•
On scouting Slippery Rock: "Slippery Rock has a lot of experience. They have good players on both sides of the ball. Offensively, they have a lot of good athletes at the skill positions and a quarterback who is one of the best in the PSAC if not in the region. Defensively, they fly around, play aggressive and are skilled in the secondary, and aggressive up front in taking away the run."
THE LAST TIME OUT
•
SLIPPERY ROCK (vs. Shippensburg (W, 54-19)): Slippery Rock reeled off 48 unanswered points to pull away for a 54-19 win. Roland Rivers III completed 25-of-34 passes for 369 yards and four touchdowns.Â
•
Millersville (vs. No. 24 IUP (L, 0-54)): IUP scored on each of its first five offensive possessions and shut down Millersville's offense, allowing just 26 total yards while totaling 560.Â

MAKING A FIRST IMPRESSION
•
Isaiah Onuschak has made an immediate impact as a starting redshirt freshman. Onuschak has led the team in tackles in both games, totaling 10 tackles in both games. Onuschak has also recorded a sack in both games, including two against IUP. He is in a three-way tie for the PSAC lead with three sacks. He is one of six players in the PSAC averaging 10 or more tackles per game.
A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
• Of the 11 Marauders with pass receptions this season, eight of them have made their first career receptions this season.
Kevon Newerls, who has the team's lone receiving touchdown, is a first-year player with the Marauders. True freshman
Robb Rideout made his first career catch against Pace while fellow true freshman
Jon Haynes made a catch against IUP.Â
AWARD-WINNING DEBUT
•
Steve Sweeney was named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week following his first collegiate game. He totaled nine tackles, two tackles for loss and broke up three passes. Seven of his tackles were solo stops. Sweeney was one of only six PSAC players to record at least three passes defended and was one of nine to record at least two tackles for loss.
RUNNING AWAY
•
K.J. Cartwright's 59-yard third quarter touchdown run against Pace was Millersville's longest rush from scrimmage since Oct. 5, 2017. It was just the third rush of 50 or more yards by a Marauder since 2015.Â
CAPTAINS
• Millersville's 2019 team captains were announced during the spring game. The group includes: junior quarterback
Collin Shank, redshirt junior left guard
Senesee Jalloh, senior wide receiver
Evan Morrill, junior defensive tackle
Lucas Bush, senior linebacker
Zac Button and senior linebacker
Cameron Boykin. The group represents six of the team's nine returning starters. All six are first time captains but half are juniors. Captain history at Millersville dates to 1965, and no team since then has had six captains.Â
A NEW LOOK
• Millersville's roster has seen significant turnover over the last two seasons. Of the 90 players on the roster at the close of camp, only 16 were members of the team two seasons ago. The Marauders have 41 true freshmen on the roster.Â
FIXTURE IN THE MIDDLE
• Inside linebacker
Cameron Boykin has made 32 consecutive starts for the Marauders. He made eight in a row to close his freshman season and has started all 11 games each of the last two years. He is tied for fourth in the PSAC in career starts. Boykin, a 2017 All-PSAC East Second Team selection, surpassed 200 career tackles in the game against IUP.Â
EARNING #1
• In his two seasons as head coach, Morgan has held a preseason competition resulting in a player vote to determine which player will wear the no. 1 jersey. The jersey goes to the player who exemplifies Marauder Pride. For the second year in a row,
Zac Button will wear the jersey. Button's first year with the Marauders was an impactful one. He was named All-PSAC East Second Team, leading the team and ranking ninth in the PSAC in tackles with 88. His 13 tackles for loss were fifth among PSAC East players and the most by a Marauder since 2005. He recorded at least a half-tackle for loss in nine of 11 games.Â
FROM THE GRIDIRON TO THE MAT
•
Evan Morrill is a busy student-athlete. Now a senior, for the previous two seasons, he has finished football season in November and went straight to the wrestling room as a member of Millersville's wrestling team. Morrill had a breakout 2018, making 35 catches for 354 yards and a touchdown and then went 14-12 as Millersville's 184-pounder, finishing fourth at the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships--one place away from a NCAA Championships berth.Â
• Morrill has caught a pass in 20 consecutive games including a career-high nine for 77 yards in the 2018 season finale at Mercyhurst.Â
• Morrill has shown off his arm, too. Morrill is 3-for-6 as a passer with two touchdowns including a 51-yard pass in 2018.Â
• As the team's primary long snapper, Morrill made four special teams tackles in 2018.Â
