REGIONAL PRIMER
• Millersville is making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance and the eighth under head coach Jon Shehan. It is Millersville's seventh-consecutive trip to the NCAA Atlantic Regional, which is the region's longest active streak. The Marauders are also the No. 1 seed in the region for the sixth time and for the fifth time under Shehan. Millersville, however, has never hosted a NCAA playoff game on campus. That changes on Friday, when the Marauders play the loser of the game between No. 4 seeded Bloomsburg and No. 5 seeded Mercyhurst.
• The format of the regional tournament has changed for 2019. The six-team field is now split into two, three-time brackets. Millersville, Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst are on one side, and No. 2 West Chester, No. 3 Gannon and No. 6 Charleston are on the other. The two region winners will square off in a best-of-three Super Regional on May 24-26. Bloomsburg (PSAC) and Charleston (Mountain East) won their respective conference tournaments for automatic qualifying spots.
• Win or lose, Millersville plays a doubleheader Friday. It will play a second game Friday against the winner of game one.
• The last time Millersville was the No. 1 seed was in 2016. That team ran through the regional with a 3-0 record to advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament in Cary, N.C. Millersville also won the regional as the No. 1 seed in 2011. As the top seed in 2014, Millersville reached the championship round and went 2-2 as the top seed in 2013 and 2000.
• Last season, Millersville entered the regional as the No. 2 seed and lost 3-0 in the opening round to Charleston. The Marauders bounced back with one-run wins over Shepherd and West Chester before routing Charleston 17-8 to advance to the loser's bracket final. There, Seton Hill knocked off Millersville, 5-0. Seton Hill went on to lose to Mercyhurst in the regional championship game.
• Millersville led all Atlantic Region teams in victories with 38. Only five other teams in program history have won 40 games (2000, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016). Millersville's 23-5 PSAC East record and .821 in-division winning-percentage was the second-best in program history, narrowly edged by the .893 winning percentage posted by the 2016 team which went 25-3.

SERIES INFORMATION
• Bloomsburg is no stranger to Cooper Park. The Huskies have played at Cooper Park twice each season since it opened in 2007. Millersville is 20-6 in those games, but while the Marauders have won 20 of the last 23 match-ups with Bloomsburg, they hold a narrow 4-3 edge in the last seven games. In game two of the March 23 doubleheader, Bloomsburg won 7-1 in nine innings, scoring six in the top of the ninth. Millersville won the other three regular season games by a combined 26-7. Most recently, Bloomsburg and Millersville met in the second round of the PSAC Tournament. Ben Newbert hit a first-inning grand slam, and Chad Cooperman held Millersville to one run on six hits while striking out eight in seven innings. Millersville scored its only run in the first on a Jimmy Cain RBI single. In the five meetings in 2019, Millersville holds an edge in hitting (.244 to .225), but Bloomsburg owns a .347 on base percentage compared to Millersville's .318, having drawn 25 walks--an average of five per game. Millersville is 9-for-11 in stolen bases against Bloomsburg, while the Huskies are 1-for-2.
• Since 2011, Millersville and Mercyhurst have tangled in the NCAA Atlantic Regional seven times. Millersville holds a 5-2 edge in those games, but Mercyhurst won the most recent regional match-up--an 11-4 decision in the second round of the 2017 Atlantic Regional in Jamestown, N.Y. Millersville beat Mercyhurst twice in both 2011 and 2016 en route to regional championships. Mercyhurst beat Millersville in Erie, Pa., in the 2015 regional championship game. Of the 17 all-time meetings between the teams, 14 came in the postseason between 2012-2018. Four of the 14 postseason meetings since 2011 have gone to extra innings. Millersville has won the last three.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
• Millersville enters the regional with a .307 team batting average and 4.20 team ERA. Both of those marks rank second among PSAC teams. The Marauders, however, have lost three of the last four games dating back to the regular season finale and have hit just .256 in that stretch. Millersville went 1-2 at the PSAC Tournament, losing back-to-back games in the tournament for the first time since 1989 and not winning at least two games for the first time since 2012.
Jimmy Cain led the Marauders at the plate in the PSAC Tournament, going 5-for-12 (.385) with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs. Kaylor Kulina went 4-for-10 and posted a .538 on base percentage. Millersville hit five home runs in the tournament as well.
• Cain has been a top postseason performer throughout his Marauder career. He has a hit in 13 of 15 postseason games and his 22-for-62 (,355) with 19 RBIs, six doubles and three home runs.
• At the PSAC Tournament, Bloomsburg handed Cordell Shannon his first-ever postseason loss. Still, his career postseason numbers are fantastic. In eight starts, Shannon is 6-1 with a 1.81 ERA, allowing 11 earned runs over 54.2 innings. He has matched-up against Bloomsburg twice (both times in the PSAC Tournament), going 1-1 with 15 innings pitched, 11 hits and four earned runs allowed with 13 strikeouts. Shannon earned a win against Mercyhurst in the 2016 regional, allowing one run on five hits and four walks over six innings.
• Two-time PSAC East Pitcher of the Year Eli Nabholz has made five career starts--two of which have come against Mercyhurst. Overall, Nabholz has logged 32 innings, allowing just 24 hits with a 2.53 ERA and 36 strikeouts. However, he is 0-1 in those five postseason starts. In 2018, Nabholz took a no decision against Mercyhurst in the PSAC Tournament after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. He also took a no decision against Mercyhurst in the 2017 regional after allowing three runs in 4 2/3 innings. Nabholz allowed four total runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings in a 7-4 win over Bloomsburg on March 23. He held the Huskies to one run on three hits in a complete-game effort in 2018, and he won a complete-game performance in 2017.
• Junior Drew Miller has never faced Mercyhurst and is 1-0 in two starts against Bloomsburg. He won on the road with 6 2/3 innings, three runs allowed and six strikeouts in 2018. On March 23, 2019, Millersville took a no decision after allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Bloomsburg is in the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the second consecutive season. The Huskies have posted a 65-34 record of the last two years, which is the best two-year stretch in program history. Bloomsburg received was crowned the PSAC Tournament champs after going 3-0. The tournament was stopped because of rain with West Chester and Seton Hill remaining in the losers bracket, but Bloomsburg was the only unbeaten team in the tournament. It was Bloomsburg's first PSAC Championship since 1965.
• Bloomsburg's .290 team batting average is seventh among all PSAC teams and it ranks fifth in runs scored heading into the regional. The Huskies were swept by West Chester to end the regular season but caught fire in the PSAC Tournament, out-scoring opponents 33-4, including a seven-inning mercy rule, 12-0 win over Mercyhurst in the first round and a 14-3 mercy rule win over West Chester, the region's No. 2 seed. Ben Newbert was named the tournament's MVP after hitting .364 with two homers and 10 RBIs.
• While the offense was red-hot in the PSAC Tournament, the Huskies' pitching has been key all season. Ashton Raines and Casey Cooperman were both All-PSAC East First Team starting pitchers and closer Zach Newmyer was an All-PSAC East Second Team pick. The Huskies lead the PSAC in ERA at 3.81. They have held opponents to a .232 batting average.

SCOUTING THE LAKERS
• Mercyhurst spent the majority of the regular season in as the top-ranked team in the region rankings, but the Lakers dropped three of four to Gannon to round out the regular season and was knocked out of the PSAC Tournament with a 12-0 loss to Bloomsburg and a 12-8 loss to Seton Hill.
• 2019 marks the sixth-straight NCAA Atlantic Regional appearance for the Lakers and the 10th for head coach Joe Spano. The Lakers are the reigning region champions, going 4-0 with wins over Bloomsburg, West Chester and two over Seton Hill last season. The Lakers also won the regional in 2015.
• Matthew Minnick is a two-time PSAC West Pitcher of the Year and owns a 5-2 record, 2.41 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 56 innings heading into the regional. He took the loss to Bloomsburg in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament. Tyler Garbee was also an All-PSAC West First Team selection in 2019. After transferring to Mercyhurst from Pitt, Garbee has logged a 13-3 record.
• Mercyhurst's offense owns a .258 team batting average. Its 235 runs scored are fewest among any team in the regional, but it has surrendered just 200 runs--an average of just 4.8 per game.
