ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• With eight games remaining on the PSAC East schedule, Millersville holds a three-game lead in the division standings over two teams--one of which is East Stroudsburg. The Warriors and Marauders start a four-game series on Saturday at East Stroudsburg and close it with a doubleheader Sunday at Cooper Park. The Marauders' magic number to win the division is six, so three wins over East Stroudsburg and three losses by Bloomsburg against Lock Haven this weekend would clinch the PSAC East for the Marauders. Not only are both teams fighting for the PSAC East crown, there are plenty of NCAA Tournament implications as well. Millersville was recently pegged No. 2 in the official NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings. East Stroudsburg was ranked sixth, right on the cut line. Only the PSAC and Mountain East tournament winners and top four at-large teams in the final regional rankings (released after the conference tournaments) make the six-team regional field.
• Millersville moved up to No. 9 in the latest NCBWA Division II poll but dropped to No. 18 in the coaches' Collegiate Baseball poll. East Stroudsburg received votes in the Collegiate Baseball poll.
• Millersville and East Stroudsburg is a match-up of the top two run-scoring offenses in the PSAC. The Marauders have totaled 322 runs (8.05 per game) while East Stroudsburg has totaled 285 for 7.1 runs per game. East Stroudsburg (.409) holds a slight edge over Millersville (.408) in team on base percentage. The Warriors have also drawn 31 more walks than Millersville while striking out 58 fewer times. The Warriors (86) and Marauders (85) rank one and two in the PSAC in doubles.
• East Stroudsburg also has a statistical edge on the mound, boasting a 4.15 team ERA while Millersville's is 4.18. Millersville's .236 batting average against is third in the PSAC while ESU's .247 is fifth. East Stroudsburg's pitchers have allowed just eight homers this season--a PSAC best. Millersville's pitchers lead the PSAC in strikeouts with 340 while ESU ranks third with 322.
• Senior Ben Snyder is three hits away from becoming the ninth player in program history with 200 career hits. Snyder is tied with Dan Neff (2014-17) for ninth on the all-time list. He is sixth with 141 career RBIs, needing four to move past Matt Knox (1999-01) for fifth. Snyder recently moved into a tie for third with Zach Stone (2011-14) in career doubles with 53. He is eight behind Derek Kline's (2008-11) program record of 61. Snyder's 98 career walks are fifth all-time.
• Junior Eric Callahan is having a career year at the plate. A three-year starter, Callahan has seen his batting average, slugging percentage and on base percentage spike in 2019. Compared to 2018, his batting average (.341) is up 91 points, his slugging percentage is up from .347 to .536 and his OBP has risen from .318 to .409. Callahan has more RBIs this season (37) than he had in the first two seasons combined. His six homers are also a career high and the most-ever by a Millersville shortstop. Callahan leads the PSAC in assists with 94 and has committed just four errors in 144 chances, giving him the best fielding percentage (.972) among all PSAC players more than 50 assists.
• Millersville's game one through game three starters--Eli Nabholz, Drew Miller and Cordell Shannon--are a combined 9-0 in 15 PSAC East starts. Nabholz is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA, .215 batting average against and two complete games in his five starts. Miller owns a 1.14 ERA and .191 batting average against in 23 2/3 innings, allowing just 17 hits while striking out 22.
• Nabholz is 1-1 in his two career starts against East Stroudsburg. In 11 2/3 innings pitched, he has surrendered just two runs on seven hits while striking out 21. Last season, Nabholz threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 10. Miller also had success against East Stroudsburg in 2018. He took a loss despite giving up just one run on five hits while striking out six in 5 1/3. Shannon hasn't been as effective against ESU. He has a 5.40 ERA with 25 hits allowed in 15 innings in three career starts against the Warriors.
• Daniel Ross has started the finale of the last three PSAC East series. All three starts came on the road. In those three appearances, Ross posted 3.27 ERA with nine strikeouts and nine hits allowed in 11 innings.

SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
• After missing the PSAC Tournament in 2018 and a two-game elimination in 2017, ESU looks like it has returned to the form it showed in 2015 and 2016 when it reached the PSAC Championship game and qualified for the NCAA Atlantic Regional with 30-plus win seasons. ESU won three of four from West Chester but dropped three of four from Bloomsburg before sweeping all four games from Kutztown last weekend.
