Offense stalls in Marauders' loss at Lincoln
12/3/2019 9:20:00 PM | Men's Basketball
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - For the second game in a row, the Millersville men's basketball team struggled at the offensive end and the 78-57 loss at Lincoln was the Marauders' third in a row.
After scoring at least 82 points in each of the first five games, Millersville has averaged 59.5 points and shot 34.9 percent in the last two--both of which were played mostly without point guard Jaden Faulkner in the lineup. Now 3-4, the Marauders are 0-4 in road games. Lincoln stopped a five-game losing streak with the win and improved to 2-0 at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Millersville made just 23-of-71 shots (.324), shot 29.6 percent from three and reached the foul line just six times while Lincoln hit 48.1 percent of its shots and got to the line 25 times, making 21.
• The Marauders trailed 34-19 with just under four minutes left in the first half but back-to-back threes from Khari Williams and Mekhi Hendricks gave the Marauders some life, and they faced a 39-30 deficit at the break. Lincoln, however, hit threes on the first two possessions of the second half while Millersville missed 11 of its first 12 of the half and fell behind by 23 in a span of just over seven minutes.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Williams and Justin Nwosu led the Marauders with 13 points each but shot 5-of-18 and 6-of-17 respectively. James Sullivan made 3-of-6 from three and finished with 11 points.
• Lincoln dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Marauders 51-27. Millersville had won the rebounding battle in each of the first five games but is -30 in the last two.
• Lincoln committed 21 turnovers, but Millersville managed just 23 points off of those turnovers.
NOTES
• Tuesday's win was just the sixth for Lincoln in 26 tries against Millersville. It was the first time that Lincoln has won by double figures.
