
Marauders follow long layoff with positive results at Bloomsburg Invitational

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville University women's cross country team returned to the course for the first time in three weeks and posted a sixth-place finish in the Bloomsburg Invitational's eight-team field.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• All eight teams in the field were PSAC programs. Millersville totaled 149 points, finishing ahead of Mansfield at Pitt-Johnstown. West Chester placed first with 30 points.
• Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno posted her highest finish of the season, taking 14th in the 71-runner field. She ran the 6K course in 24:08.5--just eight seconds off of her career best.
• Natalie Poulton was Millersville's No. 2 finisher, placing 25th with a time of 24:59. It was the second time in the last three races that Poulton finished second among Marauders.
• Elizabeth Rudderow took 35th with a time of 25:17.2, and Emily Bland was one spot and 2.2 seconds behind in 36th. It was Rudderow's highest finish among teammates this season. Freshman Kaitlyn Leister rounded out Millersville's top five with a time of 26:05.8, which landed her in 44th.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH ANDY YOUNG
• On the team's plan following the three-week layoff: "Today we were just looking to see what the Bloomsburg course looked like. We definitely wanted to see where we were competitively as well after a few weeks of heavy training."
• On the development of Rijo-Cedeno: "Yoangelys had a very good race and I think she is getting close to having a big break through. She also is starting to find a stronger competitive edge which is exciting to see."
NOTES
• A total of 11 Marauders competed in the race.
