Lewisburg, Pa. - Millersville University sophomore Aliyah Striver hit a NCAA Indoor Championships provisional qualifying mark in the shot put, highlighting the track and field team's performances at both Bucknell's Bison Open and the Franklin & Marshall Mini-Dip Invitational.
BISON OPEN HIGHLIGHTS
• While Sunflower Greene won the shot put at the Bison Open (50-1 1/4), it was Striver who had a breakthrough performance. She finished just behind Greene in second place with a mark of 45-1--a career-best and a NCAA "B" qualifier. It is the first time on record that Millersville has two NCAA indoor qualifying marks in the same event.
• In a field of 80 runners, including 36 from the PSAC, four Marauders finished in the top 10 in the 200-meter dash. Emonie Reviere finished in second with a season-best time of 25.97. Clara Forney ran a 26.01 and placed fifth. Lenaiya Flowers ran a time of 26.16 and placed sixth. All three posted PSAC Indoor Championships qualifying times. Freshman Gabriela Karch placed 10th with a 26.49.
MINI-DIP INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
• Kay Liebl led a trio of top-nine finishers in the long jump. She placed third with a jump of 16-1. Liebl, making just her second appearance of the season after a standout soccer campaign, ran a season-best 8.32 in the 60-meter dash, finishing third out of 32 runners. Freshman Patrisha Davis ran a career-best 8.45 to place seventh. Katy Alberici finished in 10th with a season-best time of 8.54.
• Liebl's busy evening concluded with a 28.12 and fifth-place finish in the 200.
• Millersville's "A" 4x400-meter relay team ran a 4:28.09 and placed third out of nine teams.
• Yoangelys Cedeno (5:45.89) and Natalie Poulton (5:47.89) finished ninth and 10th respectively in the 3,000-meter run. The field included 37 runners.
COACH ANDY YOUNG QUOTES
• "We split the squad this week because we really wanted to get everyone some more meet experience. The F&M meet suited the level for many of our developing athletes and Bucknell suited some of the higher-level performers."
• "Aliyah continues to improve and certainly were were hoping she would hit an NCAA mark. It was great to see she did it tonight. We still think the best is yet to come."
• "Our 200 runners really got after it tonight. Emonie and Lenaiya had PRs tonight while Clara had a strong race as well."
NOTES
• Greene, the reigning PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, has now finished first in the shot put in 17 of the last 19 meets. She finished runner-up in the other two meets--the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships and the 2018 outdoor Bucknell Bison Open where she finished behind a non-NCAA athlete.
• Striver already ranked No. 2 in the PSAC in the shot put and has finished in the top three of all three meets this season.
• Reviere's time in the 200 tied her for fifth in the PSAC this season. The Marauders now have four of the top 15 times in the PSAC.
