
Sheehan places third, misses NCAA Championship by one spot

Daniels, W.Va. – Senior Connor Sheehan narrowly missed his second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Championships in Wednesday's final round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Super Regional. Sheehan shot an even 70 in the final round, placing third in the field.
Only two individuals qualify for the NCAA Championships, and Sheehan finished at 1-under par, two shots behind Ryan Rucisnki of Wilmington and eight back of medalist Minwoo Park of Concordia.
The Marauders ended the tournament in a tie for 12th. The team shot a 302 Wednesday, five shots better than the second round. Roberts Wesleyan won the Super Regional by jumping five shots with a final score of 289.
Sheehan had a rough start, posting a 3-over 39 in the front nine. Sheehan charged back to birdie the 11th, 12th and 14th holes and then parred out to closed with a 3-under 33.
Freshman Ronnie Yanoski improved by six shots from the second round by recording a 4-over 76 in the final round. He finished tied for 48th over the three days. Yanoski started with red numbers by birding the par 5 third hole but then dropped two shots on the fourth and eighth holes. Yanoski posted a 3-over 39 on the back, birdieing the 17th.
Both junior Matt Keim and freshman Jack Devic posted a 5-over 77 in the final round. Senior Mitchell Burns rounded out the team with a 12-over 84 on the day. Burns finished 91st.
