Millersville, Pa. - Joey Farley caught three touchdown passes and kicked everyone of his team's PATs, leading Team Black to a 41-21 victory in the Black & Gold Spring Team held at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium Thursday night.
Team Gold struck first on a 65-yard connection from Stephen Flanagan to Rasheid Malette with 6:27 left in the first quarter, but it was all Team Black from there. Dan Yokemick found Farley from five yards out early in the second, and just over two minutes later, Farley caught a 34-yard pass from Justis Jacobs.
Kobe Miranda, who led all rushers in the game, scored from six yards out just before halftime. On the first snap of the third quarter, Yokemick hit a streaking Farley in stride, and the sophomore outran the defense for a 75-yard touchdown.
Bryan Malone added a two-yard TD run with five minutes left in the third, and Brendan Sherman scored on a 26-yard pick six, capping Team Black's scoring with 13:13 left in the fourth.
Team Gold added a two-yard TD run from Phil Overton, and a 25-yard fumble return off a high snap by A.J. Vlasaty set up Team Gold's final score. Jacobs' (who switched teams at the half) pass was deflected at the goal line, but Evan Morrill out-jumped a host of defenders to haul in the TD reception.
Michael Stock recorded two sacks for Team Black. Lucas Bush led Team Gold with two sacks. Vlasaty, in addition to his fumble recovery, added a sack for Team Gold, as did Zac Button and Devon Bernard. Team Black finished with two interceptions. In addition to Sherman, Colin Suhr picked off a pass and returned it five yards with 6:20 left in the third, setting up a touchdown.
