Johnstown, Pa. – No. 5 ranked Pitt-Johnstown started fast with a pair of technical falls wins en route to claiming a 30-6 victory over the 18th-ranked Millersville wrestlers on Friday night.
Redshirt senior
Shane Ruhnke and freshman
Ryan McGuire opened conference duals with wins.
DUAL HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders went down early by a 7-1 decision in 125-pound weight class.
• Freshman 133-pound
Ryan McGuire locked up the first Marauders win in overtime, bringing the team score to an even 3-3. McGuire trailed Matt Siszka 2-1 at the end of the second period but had a minute of riding time on his side. From a restart with a minute to go, McGuire was in the down position and brought himself out of Siszka's reach to escape and push the bout to 2-2 and extend the bout to overtime. Seconds into the overtime period, McGuire took control with a spin move and took down his opponent to clinch the victory.
• The Mountain Cats responded with three-straight wins coming from the 141, 149 and 157 weight classes, earning two technical falls and a decision, putting Pitt-Johnstown up 16-3.
• At the 165-pound weight class, with wrestlers ranked fourth and fifth in the nation, redshirt senior
Shane Ruhnke captured a 12-6 decision victory against Devin Austin. Ruhnke had the lead throughout the whole bout and then pulled away in the final seconds with two takedowns and two near-fall points.
• After Ruhnke's win, the Mountain Cats won the last four bouts, clinching the team victory.
