
Women's cross country places third at Blue & Gold Invitational

Newark, De. - The Millersville University women's cross country team finished third out of eight teams at the Blue & Gold Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware on Saturday afternoon. The Marauders only trailed host Delaware and East Stroudsburg in the standings.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno was the team's top finisher, placing 13th overall with a time of 25:27.18.
• Natalie Poulton was not far behind, finishing in 16th place with a mark of 25:38.20.
• Elizabeth Rudderow (26:10.86, 23rd place) and Emily Bland (26:17.03, 27th place) also finished within the top 30.
• Gemma Pasewicz and Alexa Happ finished back-to-back in 57th and 58th place with times of 29:43.67 and 29:56.08, respectively. Brianna Laliberte followed with a time of 30:14.97, good for 60th place.
• Sydney Levin (33:31.63, 77th place) and Bridget Dugan (37:17.35, 83rd place) rounded out the Millersville harriers.
COACH ANDY YOUNG QUOTES
• "We struggled a bit in this race with our team plan of working in groups. It was a good learning experience for this group."
• "We hope to get a few more runners back from nagging injuries for Gettysburg next week."
• "Yoangelys is developing the confidence she needs to become a competitive runner in the PSAC. Her race showed signs of that today."
NOTES
• This was the first time the Marauders have competed in the Blue & Gold Invitational since 2016, when it was called the Delaware Invitational. That season Millersville finished sixth overall.
