Kutztown, Pa. – Kutztown University and Long Island University Post defeated the Millersville women's swimming team Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears won 156-102 over the Marauders. LIU Post earned a 170-79 victory.
Freshman
Rylan Tepe broke her season best mark in the 200-yard butterfly, placing sixth with a time of 2:30.66.
In the 100-yard freestyle, freshman
Alexis Shollenberger placed sixth, registering her season best with a 58.33. Shollenberger's previous best was at the Lynn Sprint Invitational when she had a time of 1:02.26.
Sophomore
Madisson Cartmill was 0.49 shy of beating her season best in the 200-yard freestyle. Cartmill finished in fourth place with a time of 2:06.65. Cartmill and senior
Emily Fusco claimed second and third place in the 200-yard backstroke. Cartmill tapped the wall at 2:15.66 while Fusco was a second slower (2:16.05).
In the 100-yard backstroke, Fusco touched the wall for third place with a time of 1:01.75. Fusco was a second off second place finisher, Claire Frank of Kutztown.
Earning third place in the 100-yard breaststroke, junior
Mariana Bernal finished in 1:12.64, just 0.04 away from second place Gab Louden of Kutztown. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Bernal finished tops on the team and in second overall with a time of 2:37.34.
In the 200-yard individual medley, sophomore
Jessica Berry earned a new season best (2:24.50).
The 'A' squad of the 200-yard freestyle relay placed second with a time of 1:43.73. The squad included freshman
Leah Barrett, Shollenberger, junior
Amanda Wetzler and sophomore
Mallory Dyson.
The Marauders now look to their final meet of the season before Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The team travels to the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 12 p.m.
