THE MATCH-UP
• Millersville heads to Greensburg, Pa. to face Seton Hill on the road for the first time in program history. 2016 marked the first meeting between the teams and Seton Hill won that game 38-24. The game was much closer than the final score, however, as Millersville had two drives late in the fourth quarter with a chance to tie but a pair of fumbles proved costly.Â
• Fumbles were an issue in Millersville's week one loss at Pace as well. The Marauders turned the ball over four times including three times in their first four possessions. Despite the miscues, the Marauders rallied behind reserve quarterback
Collin Shank and had the ball with a chance to drive for the game-tying touchdown as the game ended. Shank finished the game 12 of 27 for 145 yards and also rushed for touchdowns.
 •
Kobe Miranda made an outstanding debut. He did not start the game but he led the team in rushing, totaling 43 yads on nine carries. He also caught a team-leading six passes for 55 yards and returned a kickoff for 21 yards.Â
• History is not on the Marauders' side with the trip to the PSAC West. The Marauders have dropped 16 consecutive road games against the PSAC West with the last win coming in the 2005 season opener when the Marauders knocked off Indiana (Pa.), 28-9. The Marauders have also won just three week two games since 2005.Â
• Seton Hill defeated Bowie State 50-48 in 2016, but Bowie State exacted some revenge in week one of 2017, scoring 48 unanswered points in a 48-6 route. Seton Hill's 5-6 record in 2016 marked its most wins since 2009. Seton Hill was picked sixth in the PSAC West Preseason Poll.Â
SCOUTING BY THE NUMBERS
• Millersville's defense surrendered just 225 yards of offense in week one including 78 yards passing. Seton Hill's week one passing total of 39 yards was a far cry from what the same quarterback, Christian Strong, did against the Marauders in 2016 (323 yards). No defense in the PSAC allowed fewer passing yards in week one, and only West Chester, which allowed 213 total yards, surrendered fewer total yards.Â
•  Millersville's
Cameron Boykin and
Sean Dugan both totaled 10 tackles and a 1 1/2 tackles for loss. Millersville's defense totaled 7 TFL and two sacks--one from Dugan and one from Jaleel Robinson (the first of his career).Â
•  In week one, Millersville's offense generated the 12th-most yards in the PSAC (298) while Seton Hill's 151 was 15th out 16 teams. Jarvis McClam, who totaled 258 yards of offense against Millersville last season, mustered 27 yards rushing on seven carries and caught two passes for 14 yards in week one.Â
THE LAST MEETING (Seton Hill 38, Millersville 24, 9/10/16)
•
On back-to-back possessions late in the fourth quarter, Millersville was driving with a chance to cut into Seton Hill's narrow lead. Both times, however, the Marauders' drives came to a halt with fumbles deep in Seton Hill territory.Â
•  Seton Hill totaled 38 points and 536 yards of offense.Â
J.J. Paige threw for 280 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Seton Hill's Christian Strong went 25 for 38 with 323 yards and two TD passes. Jarvis McClam rushed for 93 yards on 18 carries and also caught eight passes for 165 yards.Â
• Â
Sean Dugan was busy at his linebacker position, tallying 19 tackles, a sack and 2 1/2 tackles for loss. He was subsequently named PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week.
DUGAN ON DEFENSE
• Dugan opened his 2017 season right where he left off in 2016, totaling 10 tackles against Pace. It was the seventh time in his last 11 games he has recorded double-digit tackles. Dugan has also recorded at least one TFL in five consecutive games, and he has 28 TFL in his last 26 games played.Â
• Dugan ranked second in the PSAC in tackles in 2016 and earned All-PSAC East Second Team. He was also named PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week once after recording 19 tackles against Seton Hill--the most tackles by a Marauder in the Statcrew Era dating back to 2002.Â
• Dugan's 111 tackles were the most by a Marauder since 1999 and his 69 solo tackles were the most since 1996.Â
WIGGINS WATCH
•
Kevin Wiggins has caught a pass in 33 consecutive games dating back to the start of his freshman season. Now with 137 career grabs in 33 games, Wiggins ranks sixth in career receptions, fifth in touchdowns (18) and 10th in career yards (1,726). Wiggins is just two yards shy of Ryan Clift (2002-05) for ninth place and needs just 63 yards to leapfrog to sixth in yards.Â
• Wiggins was named All-PSAC East Second Team in 2016, becoming Millersville's first all-conference wide receiver since Jamal Smith in 2010.Â
• Wiggins totaled over 100 yards against Pace (101) and East Stroudsburg (144). He has three career 100 yard games.Â
• Wiggins is the first Marauder since hall of famer Mike McFetridge (1996-98) to lead the team in receiving in three consecutive seasons and one of only two players ever to record 40-plus catches in each of his first three seasons.Â
• Wiggins has ranked in the top 25 in the PSAC in catches each of his three seasons.Â
GOOD WORKS TEAM
• Not only is Wiggins producing on the field, he's making a difference of the field. Wiggins was nominated for the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Wiggins' extensive work with the Marauder Scholar program as well as his involvement with the 2017 Make-A-Wish reveal during the spring football game made him a strong candidate for the honor. The final roster, comprised of 22 total players including 11 from the FCS, Division II, Division II and NAIA ranks, will be released in September.Â
RELIABILITY
• Since making his debut in week one of the 2014 season,
Drew Seaburg has started 34 consecutive games on the defensive line. Only eight players in the PSAC entered 2017 with 30 career starts, and only Slippery Rock's Marcus Martin has more (38) career starts than Seaburg.
Kevin Wiggins, with 33 career starts, is tied for fourth with Lock Haven's Trent Fielding and West Chester's Vince Lostracco. Wiggins and IUP's Jay Watkins (CB) are the only non-lineman with 30 or more starts.Â
EXPERIENCE UP FRONT
• There is no shortage of game experience for the Marauders on the defensive line. Among returning players listed on the depth chart,
Logan Kinser (34),
Drew Seaburg (34),
Tanner Dean (33),
Morgan Faughnan (23) and
Tommy Halloway (12) have combined for 131 games played.Â
