Fellman and Akerley Doubles 9-28

Two doubles and a singles wins not enough in loss to USciences

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – Millersville men's tennis team took its first loss in the 2017-18 season Thursday, falling to USciences, 6-3. 

The match was momentarily suspended due to darkness and finished at UPenn.

Millersville concluded the head-to-head match with a 1-1 record while USciences received its first victory of the season.

The Marauders claimed only one singles victory. Junior Peter Landis secured his second dual match win of the season by winning, 6-1, 6-1. 

Freshman Ben Fellman took a loss in the first set against Sahas Chandragiri and then Fellman battled back in the second set to win, 6-0. But he was defeated in the third set. Freshman Erich Nagel notched a second set 6-2 triumph over Evan Halperin, but the match ended with an 11-9 score in the third set in favor of Halperin.

Millersville won two out of three doubles matches. The No. 2 doubles team of Fellman and junior Christian Akerley defeated Chandragiri and Rakesh Chamala, 8-5. Scoring their second doubles victory f the season, redshirt freshman Calvin Athey and freshman Brandon Miller won 8-4. 

Millersville now competes at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships on Saturday, Sept. 30–Monday, Oct. 2. The championship is hosted by Bloomsburg University.
