Box Score Millersville, Pa. – Elizabethtown College came out on top against the Millersville women's tennis squad 6-3 on a Sunday afternoon at the McComsey Courts.
Junior
Katina Jones and freshman
Lauren Weaver triumphed over their opponents to have the two Millersville victories in singles matches.
Jones captured her win by defeating Lenea Riehl 6-0, 6-0 at No.1 singles. Weaver took a 6-3 lead in the first set of her match, but Laura Gribble secured the second set, 4-6. The match went to the third set in which Weaver battled for a 10-6 victory to take the match.
Freshman
Corinne Grohoski earned a second set 7-6 win that included a 7-4 tiebreaker victory but could not overtake Meghan Chemidlin in the match.
For the team's first doubles victory of the season, Jones and Grohoski defeated Riehl and Chemidlin, 8-5.
With Jones' victory today, she claimed her 12th career victory as a Marauder in singles matchups.
The Marauders visits Jefferson University on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. for a dual match.
